Bed Bug Bite Symptoms
Bed Bug Bite Symptoms
Bed bug bite symptoms are difficult to identify for a few simple reasons. To confirm your bites as being Bed Bug bites, check the following:
* Pattern of the Bed Bug bites.
* Bed Bug Bite Symptoms.
* Other signs of Bed Bugs.
Bed Bug Bite Pattern (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
First off, the problem with Bed Bug bites is that they are little red bumps, so they look like common insect bites, kind of like mosquito bites.
What sets them apart is the pattern of the Bed Bug bites.
Bed bug bites often occur in a unique and unusual bite pattern…a linear group of three or more bites, commonly referred to as the “breakfast, lunch, dinner” pattern.
Bedbug bites CAN occur singly but they are often found in this straight or curved line pattern.
People react to Bed Bug bites differently from person to person. The usual symptoms are small red welts and swellings that are usually more itchy than mosquito bites and tend to last longer.
The problem is there can be a lag between the time you’re bitten and the time the symptoms appear. Symptoms can sometimes take days to appear, though usually the more times you’ve been bitten, the less of a lag there is between the biting and symptoms showing up.
Because of this time lag, people can attribute the marks to something other than Bed Bugs. Doctors may identify the marks as scabies or allergic rashes and prescribe steroids or antihistamines to treat as such.
To avoid unnecessary medication it’s best to confirm the presence of Bed Bugs before going to the doctor…
Other signs of Bed Bugs
As we said, it’s just too easy to attribute Bed Bug bite symptoms to some other cause. And remember, while you’re wasting time tracking down the cause of the symptoms, your Bed Bugs are reproducing and spreading through your home. Without doing something to stop them you could end up with a full blown Bed Bug infestation.
1. Tell-tale Bite Mark Pattern. If you have bites in a linear patters, 3 or four marks in a row, it’s a good indication you have Bed Bugs.
2. Red stains on your matress, bedding or nightclothes.
3. Little red specks in the crease and crevices of your mattress. This is Bed Bug excrement, made mainly of your blood.
4. Bed bug “shells” or eggs. Once again, you’ll find them in the crease of your mattress. The shells are the old “skins” that the Bed Bug has shed as it grows bigger…on your blood! looks like dead bugs, but just it’s old skin.
